12 Hours in Barcelona

Wow it's been a while since I've done any writing. When I went to Italy for the first time with Rome Abroad part of the deal was that we'd write a weekly summary. It became easy and I really enjoyed it. I've been in a bit of a rut lately and was hoping to reignite my love for writing again. I was reminiscing on some memories of my trip to Sardinia this summer and that out of the whole trip Barcelona was more beautiful than I could imagine, and I was grateful to have made a safe passage through. I landed in Barcelona with a few sites to hunt down. Primarily some of the beautiful buildings created by Antoni Gaudi, the famous Arco De Triunfo, and the serene Parc de la Ciutadella. I landed in the afternoon and ran around discovering the magic of Gaudi's architecture. I developed a love for architecture while visiting Torino several times. The home I lived in in Italy received regular subscription of Casa Vogue and I was frankly mesmerized by the homes and buildings fe...

5 Things learned from 11 weeks in Italy

As I am reminiscing on my time spent in Italy this time last year I wanted to remember some of my favorite lessons learned while I was there. 1. A place is only as great as the people that are there. I went into depth on this in a previous blog post but I really think it has changed my whole outlook on traveling and how we treat strangers. I am so grateful to have met and to know some of the most amazing people that walk the planet. 2. Knowledge is Power I never will understand why anyone could live a life that they weren't earnestly trying to learn new things. Whether that is learning languages or business skills, developing talents or just learning the background of the amazing sights you travel too. Knowledge is sincerely so priceless, and sadly, so undervalued. 3. You only regret the pizza you don't eat Since being home I've made some changes to eating a gluten/ dairy/ corn-free diet due to those foods have been the culprit of my health issues. This has ...

All Roads Actually Lead to Rome

I remember sitting at the dinner table and asking Papino if all roads actually lead to Rome. He answered saying, of course, you have to be facing the right direction but eventually, this road leads to that road and you'll find yourself in Rome. Well, my friends, I have found this to be true. Roma, what a dream come true. I can tell you little Adia did indeed cry seeing the Fontana di Trevi for the first time. The Colosseo is grand and I have many more places to discover. Although like I expected my favorite moments were when I was taking a break at the parks just sitting and soaking it in. If you want to take any piece of travel advice from me I demand it be this: Always find a park for optimal enjoyment. Yeah just a local parco di gioci. Or whatever is vicino. This is how to have the ultimate best place because A) You can find the most dogs there. B)You can always find a place to sit if you think your feet might fall off. C) If you are lucky they'll have a musician playing...

Paris 2019: A Three-Day Whirlwind

Suprise! We are back at it again, and this time not just to visit the lovely Italia, I truly believe the less you can pay for the flights the more you can justify spending exuberant amounts on Gelato, or in this case Macrons, This time around I found myself flying into Paris CDG airport. Thankfully I convinced Hallee girl to come too and we took on the grand city of Paris together. Lucky for us nothing wild or scary happened. Which is truly the most beloved of blessings when traveling abroad, so all I really have to say about it is I didn't find it to be as bad as everyone says it is, and everything is closer than you think. I say that because most people comment on how dirty the streets are and to be honest I didn't think they were that bad. The city I booked our airbnb was a bit disgusting but as far as the inter-city sites and the metro I had a much lower expectation. That may be because I was there on the off season but if your traveling Europe in the summer, not only do...

A Place is Only as a Great as the People That are There

In the last 10 weeks, I've met all sorts of people. Young, old and some in between. And of all different races, colors, and sizes. I keep thinking of how often someone I didn't know, or couldn't speak too has done me a service. Whether that was just to give me directions, instructions, called to me for dropping a glove, offered me their umbrella, tried to speak my language to be friendly, or anything else. It makes me filled with so much happiness knowing that these people were/are introduced into my life by God for a reason. Even if just for a moment, I get to meet one of my spirit brothers or sisters here on this earth and I even get be blessed by their kindness. Seriously how cool is that. I'm so honored to be able to see these people through Gods eyes in their moments of interaction with me. It doesn't matter their skin color, language, religion or social status. Refugee or Governer, God knows them and fills their lives with opportunities and trials. Just as he ...

Danse de Macabre

Alrighty, I been really reflecting on this night and I hope I can say something of as equal excellence that I learned that night as it the night felt to me. So long story short my host mom is a really rad woman, is the president of this women's community club, and they were having a banquet to celebrate awarding a community group best costume in the parade and Festival the city has every September. The festival is all about the dance of the dead. Which is essential to remember that this life is special and even leaving it needs to be celebrated as something remarkable.  This festival is a big deal like these people aren't messing around. Anyway, she let me tag along and since we aren't in tourist territory there was basically no one who spoke English. I stood awkwardly by one of F's friends and then when it came time to sit I ended up with this man, L, and the Governor for the district and his wife.  All of which spoke English, I was delighted, to say the ...
